As part of its commitment to academic excellence and hands-on training, the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology (COAST), Lafia organized an orientation program for students participating in the 2025 Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES). The event was held on campus to equip students with the knowledge and expectations needed for a successful industrial training experience.
Declaring the event open, the Rector, Dr. Musa Yahaya Maikafi, appreciated the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) for its continued support. He emphasized SIWES as a vital link between classroom learning and industry practice, urging students to take the opportunity seriously, remain disciplined, and be eager to learn. He also welcomed the new student union leaders and encouraged them to be proactive during their tenure.
Representing ITF, Mrs. Na’anpoc Shwatshala, Head of Training, commended COAST management for creating a conducive learning environment and praised the dedication of the lecturers and SIWES Director, Mr. Musa Abari. She urged students to uphold the image of the institution by maintaining professionalism and good conduct during their training.
The orientation featured key presentations by ITF officials on students’ responsibilities, proper documentation, and expected conduct during the training period.
