TETFund Commends COAST Lafia for Prudent Utilization of Project Funds

The College of Agriculture, Science and Technology (COAST), Lafia, has been commended by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for its effective utilization of intervention funds and remarkable progress in infrastructural development.

This commendation came during a project inspection visit by members of the TETFund Board of Trustees, led by the North-Central representative, Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi. The team was received by the Rector, Dr. Musa Yahaya Maikafi, along with principal officers of the College and members of the Governing Council.

In his welcome address, the Rector described the visit as a reflection of the strong and growing partnership between COAST and TETFund. He highlighted that the College was officially enlisted as a TETFund beneficiary in 2024, and has since witnessed significant transformation across academic and administrative structures.

Dr. Maikafi acknowledged TETFund’s vital role in driving academic excellence, stating that the interventions have enhanced infrastructure, staff training, research development, and the provision of learning materials. He also commended His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, for his unwavering support and advocacy for the institution’s development.

Providing an update on project implementation, the Rector noted that several major projects are either completed or nearing completion. These include construction works on key academic facilities such as the engineering complex and a new girls’ hostel, as well as ongoing improvements in library development, ICT infrastructure, staff training, career support services, and skill acquisition programmes. He emphasized that most of the completed projects are already contributing meaningfully to teaching, learning, and student development.

In his response, Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi expressed satisfaction with the quality of the projects inspected and encouraged the College to sustain its efforts. He also advised the institution to plan for future academic expansion by prioritizing a capacity lecture theatre.

Chairman of the COAST Governing Council, Engr. Danladi Abimiku, welcomed the delegation and expressed optimism that the positive outcome of the inspection would lead to sustained collaboration and greater support in the future.

The visit concluded with a tour of TETFund-supported facilities across the campus and a reaffirmation of COAST’s commitment to excellence, accountability, and long-term academic development.
